Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here are some FAQs with answers to help you navigate the Consultmed system.

1. I have forgotten my password

To reset your password, simply click on the Forgot Password button after you have entered your username on the login page. You will then receive a one-time password reset link, which expires 24 hours from the time it is sent.

Alternatively, you can also ask the Account Holder of your establishment to send you the password reset link. They simply need to navigate to their Admin Portal and select the ‘Password Reset’ option against the list of users.

2. Some parts of Consultmed aren’t working properly for me

We are sorry to hear you are having trouble using Consultmed. Often, an incompatible or out-of-date web browser is the issue. We recommend using the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge on your desktop device to access Consultmed.

For security reasons, older versions of these browsers, including Safari and Internet Explorer, are not supported.

3. I would like to create a secondary account using a different email address associated with another workplace

For security reasons, Consultmed verifies each user against their unique credentials (e.g., username, MFA, AHPRA number). Registering a secondary email address will allow you to set up an additional Consultmed account linked to the same unique credentials as your primary account.

You can add a secondary email to your Consultmed account by navigating to User Settings > Profile > Add secondary email.

Once you have added a secondary email, a secondary account will be created that is linked to the same credentials (e.g. AHPRA number).

4. I need help integrating Consultmed with my Practice Management Software (PMS)

Consultmed has existing integrations with many of the common PMS, including Best Practice, Gentu, and Medical Director, making it easier for healthcare providers to send and receive referrals seamlessly via Consultmed.

Best Practice PMS

If your practice uses Best Practice and would like to enable our integration via Halo Connect, your Practice Manager will need to set up a Consultmed account. Once the setup is complete, all GPs in the practice can be added, and the integration will function seamlessly at the server level. If you are not the practice manager, please let them know to initiate the setup process.

MedicalDirector Clinical PMS

If your practice uses MedicalDirector, you can connect your PMS to Consultmed by enabling our sidebar widget. The widget is pre-installed at the server level and simply needs to be set up once by each GP.

The sidebar will be active the next time you open MedicalDirector Clinical. It appears on the right-hand side of your screen and can be pinned so that it stays visible at all times.

Please follow the instructions (below) to set up the integration, or share these resources with your Practice Manager:

Gentu PMS

If your practice uses Gentu, you can connect your PMS to Consultmed by first creating a Consultmed account. You may then navigate to the Gentu marketplace and add the Consultmed app. As a cloud-based PMS, this will only need to be set up once by each user.

Please follow the instructions (below) to set up the integration, or share these resources with your Practice Manager:

For other PMS, we have several integrations planned for release, including Medirecords and Zedmed. Keep an eye on our newsletters for the latest updates as we roll out these enhancements.

5. I am a Patient or Carer requesting assistance

Consultmed is a health technology company offering a comprehensive suite of digital solutions for healthcare organisations. In compliance with local and national privacy laws and regulations, Consultmed staff do not have access to any personal health information.

Occasionally, errors can arise if a patient’s name or date of birth is entered incorrectly, which may prevent you from viewing the referral. We recommend confirming the exact details with your healthcare provider and then re-entering them in the verification process.

If you require any assistance, including accessing your referral or other healthcare documents, please contact your healthcare provider directly.

6. I am a Practice Manager wanting to onboard my specialist practice or other healthcare organisation

We are happy to assist you with onboarding your practice into Consultmed.

As a practice manager, the first step is to create an account using our web portal here by entering your email and selecting Create Account. When prompted, please select the Practice Owner or Manager option and follow the instructions to set up your account for your practice.

After creating your account, you can invite providers to your practice via the Admin Portal in the Settings (the little cog wheel in the top right of your screen) section. Navigate to the Users tab and select Invite New User in the top right corner of your screen. You will be notified in-app once they accept your invitation, and they will appear on your All Users list.

For privacy and security reasons, we recommend inviting each healthcare provider to your practice individually.
