A Smarter Way to Refer: Consultmed’s New Integration with MedicalDirector Clinical.

Consultmed has officially launched its new sidebar widget for MedicalDirector Clinical, allowing GPs to send referrals without switching screens or disrupting their workflow.

The embedded widget sits directly within the MedicalDirector sidebar, giving clinicians fast, secure access to Consultmed’s digital referral platform – without needing to leave the patient record. This marks a significant leap forward in making electronic referrals faster, easier, and more accessible for everyday general practice.

The release follows a recent partnership between Consultmed and Telstra Health, announced earlier this year. Through this collaboration, Consultmed is now available within MedicalDirector’s Smart Marketplace – bringing best-in-class referral management into one of the country’s most widely used GP clinical systems.

The widget was refined over several months of beta testing and user experience trials with GPs and practice teams across Australia. Clinicians shared their need for a referral solution that felt familiar, worked with their existing systems, and didn’t interrupt their day. Consultmed listened – and delivered a solution that launches instantly from within the clinical interface.

This release is part of Consultmed’s ongoing mission to reduce faxed referrals, improve communication across the healthcare system, and build tools that support the way GPs work. With the new MedicalDirector integration, sending referrals is now faster, safer, and more intuitive – so clinicians can focus on patients, not paperwork.
