Multilingual referrals now available through Consultmed.
Nearly one in four Australians speak a language other than English at home, and the referral process should reflect that diversity. Consultmed has introduced multilingual translation functionality in our patient portal, making healthcare more accessible for patients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
More and more of the referral services supported by Consultmed are for culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Our digital referrals, consents, requests for admission, and transfer of care summaries are now instantly translatable into over 200 languages. Whether it’s a parent accessing a children’s clinic at Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network or Monash Health, an aged care referral through Silverchain Group, or someone seeking mental health support via Amplar Health, patients can now complete referral forms in their preferred language with confidence.
Stephanie Hodgson, Chief of Staff at Consultmed and a former physiotherapist, said:
“As a physiotherapist, I saw how confusing the healthcare system could be for patients and carers navigating referrals, appointments, and next steps. It can be overwhelming, even in your first language. Providing referral forms in the language someone is most comfortable with is the least we can do to make things clearer from the start.”
Multilingual referral functionality is now live across all Consultmed-powered patient portals.
