Consultmed goes live at South Western Sydney LHD.

Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals are the first in South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) to go live with the Consultmed digital referral platform, marking the start of a district-wide transition away from faxed referrals in outpatient services.

The go-live on 15 July 2025 represents a significant milestone in our partnership with SWSLHD. By replacing paper and fax-based processes with secure, trackable digital referrals, Consultmed is supporting a more connected, efficient, and transparent referral system – reducing administrative burden and improving safety for both clinicians and patients.

The rollout will progressively expand across the district over the coming months, including at Liverpool, Fairfield, Bowral, and Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospitals.

Staff at Campbelltown and Camden collaborated closely with Consultmed and SWSLHD project teams to support the implementation, with a focus on improving timely access to care and streamlining workflows for hospital and community-based providers.

As part of this implementation, Consultmed is delivering a comprehensive set of tools designed to modernise referral workflows and enhance communication between primary and specialist care. Key features include:

• Digital referral management – Supporting the handling of hundreds of thousands of referrals annually across outpatient and intra-hospital teams
• Advice & Guidance – Allowing GPs to receive secure, asynchronous specialist input regarding their referral
  
• Automated referral tracking – Delivering real-time updates to referring clinicians and patients via secure email
  
• Digitisation of paper-based referrals – Converting existing referral forms into structured digital formats aligned with local and state guidelines
  
• Consultpilot AI – Using artificial intelligence to extract and structure data from scanned referrals to support triage and future analytics
